Prayer, Games, Games, MORE Games, and Food!!

ICYMI: (In case you missed it)

HiKoi started off the night with prayer led by Nathan and it was good :) We got to know our officers this week who played a game of Roulette(Large Group Officers v. Small Group Officers). Let's just say our SG officers sure know how to put on make up and the LG officers looked great. Naomi led us in a game of Barnyard Hunt, where we made noises of barnyard animals to communicate to our team that we had found the dime/nickel/penny/quarter which were hidden throughout the third floor. AND you couldn't just pull out your own coin... because Naomi is smart and marked all the coins. HEH. Did you hear that one (very awesome group) yelling "Aflac" throughout the entire game? Guess what animal they were. (: Tonight, we played not one game, but TWO!! WAO!! How exciting!!! (fyi: that wasn't sarcasm)

Have you played Viking before? It's very fast paced and if you couldn't keep up (that would be me...) you were sent "to the floor..." (which btw was a very relaxing place to be. just saying.) Then it was off to small groups!! Pseudo SG's!!!!! YAS.

We had 3 rounds of Pseudo SG's tonight and I am sure each one was great :p Nelson led a game of balloon roulette (balloons are bomb dot com). Simeon's Pseudo groups played zoo which I heard was very fun! Nikki's groups played Kemp (one of my fav games). Eugene (counselor) led a game of knee bopper and I assume that knees were involved. Ben, Jacob, Leticia, and Nathan played Secret Dancer and the games ended with very some sort of licking or nose picking or yelling of "Ben is awesome!" Kristy led a game of Pantyhose Head where two people battled it out with pantyhose wrapped around there heads and a tennis ball in the legs of the pantyhose. (probably one of the more dangerous games..) Edwin's small groups played Signal/Signs. It has been reported that Katie Wong is one to watch out for! And, Wendy's SG played Emo Charades. And of course, we always end our nights with food!!!

Did you come to Hikoi tonight? Share with a friend your favorite moment of the night!

Hello HiKoi!

Hi Guys. I'm Jonny (aka TSM Kawall). I'm not as cool as Justin and all of my pictures make me look deranged so I'm just going to use words. Umm I don't know where to start. I guess I'll talk a bit about myself first. I'm 17 and I go to San Marino High School. My hobbies include gaming, binge watching, and the all powerful sleep. Sometimes I feel like gravity is coming from my bed instead of the earth. I eat super unhealthily and at weird times especially at breakfast and lunch. My lunch is usually dried Asian noodle snacks and yogurt or pizza. Uhmmm my favorite candy is skittles and twix ;) I like to cuddle things when I sleep. It's hard to tell, but I don't workout. I'm pretty marvelous and magnificent and glorious and glamorous. Some people have described me as startlingly beautiful. I'm also a pretty humble guy. I make stupid jokes a lot. It's a blessing and curse. Uhmmm yea. I think that's enough about me.

So what I wanted to do with my blog is kinda make a diary entry that encompasses the week. It was a pretty bad idea LOL I forgot most of what happened this week so I'm just going to sum up the main points. On Sunday I think the most memorable moment was after leading a couple songs, during the "greet your neighbor" part of worship, someone came up to me and said, "Jonny! I'm so glad you played that song 10,000 Reasons. I really like it and it holds so much meaning to me. I was praying that the leader today would play it." I was so shocked that a pikachu would've gotten electrocuted if it touched me. That was the first moment I think that I felt like God was truly using me while serving in worship. It was completely amazing to see God use me, even with my voice that sounds like a dying constipated dog and terrible musical talent, for his purpose. I guess the lesson is to not doubt God's plan and will because even if it doesn't impact you directly, it has a purpose. Hmmm. I don't remember much of Monday and Tuesday so they probably weren't important. WAIT. NOT TRUE. On Tuesday I had a pretty big fight with my mom about some small and ridiculous. The fight should never have happened. I was too close minded and blinded by pride to see that my mom just wanted the best for me and that she deserves completely to be honored. Don't take your parents for granted. No bueno.

That was probably super boring so here are some bad jokes:

Q: What's red and bad for your teeth?

A: A BRICK

Q: Why did the hot dog cross the road?

A: to KETCHUP to the bun hehehehe
A: but first he had to MUSTARD up the courage hehehehe
A: but he RELISHED his moment of victory hehehehehe

CHEMISTRY JOKE:

Q: Why can't polar bears go swimming?

A: THEY JUST DISSOLVE.

Ok. That's probably enough torture for you guys. Byeeee.

Just to introduce what we're doing, each officer and counselor will eventually create a post about him or herself.  Jonny and I have been chosen to make the first two posts, so here we go!

I thought I would share with you some pictures of me (images can sometimes tell a better story than words.)  Each picture will hopefully help you get to know me a little better.

This picture is from my fishing trip to Alaska.  In general, the people who know me know I LOVE fishing.  Everything about it makes me happy-- the intricacies of setting things up, the strategy, the reeling, etc... BTW-- I'm holding up a ling cod and the halibut on your left is the one I reeled up.

If you did not know, this will be my first year serving as your Hi-Koi sponsor.  However, this will actually be my eighth year as a Hi-Koi counselor.  Here's what I looked like when I first started Hi-Koi. haha  This is the closest picture I have.  I just graduated from UCI (Zot Zot!) and a lot was going through my mind.  I was thinking about where to apply for grad school, and I was anxious on where God wanted me to be, in the present and future.  Little did I know that God was going to call me to be a Hi-Koi counselor soon after this trip to Hawaii.
I cannot deny that I feel very blessed to be where I am right now.  There is no doubt that God has been very real and evident in my life.  In the midst of joys and hardships, I have been able to experience God in ways beyond my understanding.  Perhaps I can share a more detailed testimony later, but this picture shows you two things I value: my heritage and my family.  Not sure if you can tell, but I was SUPER excited about being in this lion dance lion.  Seriously, this was one of my bucket list items that I was able to cross off a few years ago; and it was all made possible by my relatives.  I think the picture says it all, especially for all of you who know my family. :)
My wife, Denise, snapped this picture of me without my knowledge.  We were out on Castaway Cay (Disney's private island in the Caribbean) where we had this whole section of the beach to ourselves.  Whenever we sing the song, "Oceans," I always think about this moment in my life.  (There is another but can share about that another time.)  Especially when it comes to the lines, "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders; Let me walk upon the waters; Wherever You would call me; Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander; And my faith will be made stronger; In the presence of my Savior," I sing this song as a testament to how God has worked in my life.  I encourage you to always seek God and His perfect will.  Even though you may peer out and it looks "deep" and challenging, you can rely on God who is mightier and stronger.  "The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; Let the many islands be glad,... For Thou art the Lord Most High over all the earth; Thou art exalted far above all gods." Psalm 97:1, 9

Have a great rest of the week!  Hope to see you @ Hi-Koi this Friday!

September 19 FIRST NIGHT FUN

Hay! Did you guys have fun tonight?  Whaaat?! What if you weren't able to make it tonight? Don't worry, here's a recap of tonight to keep you up to date and let you know about everything you missed. :D

Thanks to everyone who came to church at 7:00 pm and prayed for the Hikoi night. Jonny (aka Mr. President) started the very first meeting of the year by introducing Hikoi and its meaning. Everyone was split up into 6 different teams and thanks to our games director Naomi Low, we played 6 games all around the church. The games were all challenging, as we had to jump rope, play horseshoes, eat & whistle, put together a puzzle, show amazing teamwork through a penny toss, and practice our chopstick technique. In the end, the purple and green teams showed the most teamwork. (^-^ but the pink team was pretty awesome too) We ended the night with cookies, ice cream, and soda... because Hikoi is totally healthy like that :/

If you came tonight, make sure to come back next week for more fun and fellowship! And if you weren't able to make it, don't worry. We still have a lot more in store for this year and you should definitely try to come as much as possible. Hope you guys had a fun first night at Hikoi cuz it was super fun!

and it was good :D

Hi everyone! Are you excited for the 2014-15 HiKoi year to start? Well you should be :D This year is gonna be bomb with a new theme, new officers, and new members! If you didn't already know, HiKoi stands for High School Koinonia. Koinonia is a Greek word that translates to fellowship. Soooo... HiKoi = High School Fellowship. It is the English-speaking fellowship for all high schoolers at First Chinese Baptist Church. The first meeting of the year is THIS Friday, September 19 at 7:00 pm in the Lifecenter room 305-306. Bring all your friends and get ready for a partaaay! I hope to see lots of people there!
